First of all, a quick report on yesterday’s post. I spent the day yesterday working on the book, so I am actually on track! Now for today’s news:
I am on Facebook, so I read alarming posts almost daily about the latest outrage, the latest disaster, the latest way the world is stacked against us. I have friends who gleefully repost anything that has to do with chemtrails or GMOs or government coverups about medical trials or the latest outbreak of the latest disease that is going to kill us all. I get it. We’re all going to die.
Truth be told, we were all going to die even before all that outrage.
Most days, I find that alarmism amusing. Some days (when I’m not feeling as well), I find it annoying. I never find it compelling. I don’t actually care that the government is building concentration camps all over the desert with which they plan to keep the population in control. I don’t actually stay up at night wondering when the jack-booted thugs are going to cart me away for being too liberal/too conservative/too educated/too poor, etc., etc.
Am I laughing in the face of danger? No. Even if any or all of these theories have any merit, what good would staying up nights worrying about them do? I will live my life. I will be involved in my society and influence whatever I can influence. What I can’t influence, I will have to ignore.
Calm down, everyone. We’re gonna die anyway.
